Lenten Day of Reflection

We hope you will join us either online or as part of an in-person group in your local area for this powerful day to gather and reflect on the prophetic nature of our vocation to serve those impacted by incarceration.

If you plan to organize an in-person group, we will provide a guide with more information. You can contact Emily directly at ecortina@catholicprisonministries.org or check the box on your registration below and we will follow up with you.

From Encounter to Witness: The Prophetic Role of Prison Ministry

Date: March 7, 2026
Time: 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. PST / 10am-2pm MST / 11am-3pm CST / 12–4 p.m. EST

Format: Live virtual gathering with locally organized in-person groups
Audience: Prison and jail ministers, volunteers, chaplains, and leaders

In a culture increasingly shaped by fear, polarization, and dehumanizing narratives, jail and prison ministry carries a distinct prophetic calling. Prison ministers are formed through encounter with those who are incarcerated—and are sent to carry the truth of those encounters beyond the jail or prison, bearing witness to the dignity they have seen with courage, humility, and hope.

This Day of Reflection invites participants to claim that movement from encounter to witness: to meet a culture of division without becoming divided, to resist dehumanization by recognizing Christ in every person, and to live reconciliation as a daily, demanding, and grace-filled practice within the Church and the wider world.
