To aid in the Church's response to the dramatic increase in immigrant detention, CPMC has launched a new training for ministers: "Called to Accompany: Formation for Immigration Detention Ministry." 

 

Course Details

  • 12-week course combines independent online learning with six live online small group sessions
  • Six learning modules featuring video presentations by experienced ministers and practitioners
  • Six live online sessions on Wednesday evenings to discuss the material with trained facilitators
  • Participants will:
    • Gain a grounded understanding of immigration detention through the lens of Catholic social teaching and pastoral ministry
    • Develop trauma-informed, culturally humble pastoral skills for accompanying individuals and families impacted by detention
    • Learn practical strategies for beginning or strengthening a ministry rooted in empathy, presence, and hope

Spring 2026 Cohort

  • The spring 2026 cohort is full. We are still accepting applications as future cohorts will be scheduled based on demand. We hope to offer various cohorts during the course of the year.
